Pain Management
The Spine & Joint Center has a special program dedicated to the management of patients suffering from pain as
a result of spine and joint problems.
Our pain management staff is trained in the complexity of pain and will guide patients through the treatment
that is most appropriate for them. We employ a multidisciplinary approach, utilizing a team of experts in
physical medicine and rehabilitation, physical therapy, orthopaedics and spine surgery to deliver the highest
quality, most advanced techniques to treat acute, subacute and chronic pain.
We believe that each patient is an individual and we tailor our treatment based on each patient's needs.
We begin with a thorough history and physical examination to define the potential causes of pain. Relevant
medical records and imaging studies also help in this process. This is followed by the initiation of a logical
and sequential treatment program.
We stress non-operative pain management recommending surgical management if conservative measures fail and if
surgical treatment is a viable option. Our treatment options include nerve root block, epidural steroid injections,
trigger point injections and IDET (intradiscal electrothermal therapy).
We also stress patient education. It is our philosophy that patients play an active role in the management of
their disease process and are partners in the decision making process.
Whether the pain is caused by disease or injury, our highly trained pain management professionals can diagnose
and develop an individual treatment program that will help patients lead a normal life no longer hindered by pain.
